Hello from Manga Planet! We are back to introduce another anime and manga event being held annually in the southern part of the United States: San Japan, the Largest Anime & Gaming Convention in the South Texas Region!
Bringing Japanese-related content to those in Texas, San Japan is the largest Anime and Gaming Convention in the South Texas Region. That’s three days of Japanese fandom-related events by fans and for fans.
San Japan provides cosplayers various opportunities to display their craft through various cosplay categories in the Cosplay Show. From novices to professionals, the Cosplay Show is the perfect opportunity to dazzle the crowd with stunning cosplays of various characters.
For people who are keen to view various costumes and would like a closer look at the details of these costumes, the Cosplay Museum, curated by the Southern Cospitality Cosplay, allows viewers access to a myriad of costumes.
For those fond of dancing while dressed up as their favorite characters in a ballroom setting, the Masquerade is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to dance the night away while decked out in formal cosplay. There’s also the Electronic Dances, which are bound to be less formal but no less fun opportunity to dance to sick beats.
A staple of anime conventions, San Japan offers an hour-long version of the ever-popular Maid Cafe. Relax away from the hustle and bustle of con events as you eat and drink while the maids and butlers perform and play games with the customers.
There’s also a show for fans of both automobiles and anime, as ItaPara Car Show puts on a show like no other. Various itasha are parked on display so that avid fans of cars can admire the workmanship of these vehicles.
Have anime items that you’d be willing to let go of and a fan of meeting other fans while at it? San Japan has a Swap Meet where fans can meet other fans and trade their goods!
Mecha fans can also view a competition very close to their hearts, a GunPla Grand Prix! A competition sure to bring dozens of skilled competitors, building and modifying their Gundam kits to bring out the best in their model kits!
And, finally, there’s the ever-popular San Japan Pub Crawl. Attendees get to visit various pubs and drink and be merry with their fandom buddies.
For Japanese content fans living in the south, San Japan is an event worth checking out and it only gets bigger and better each year!
