Hello from Manga Planet! Here is our monthly list of manga events happening in Japan this April 2021!

Please note that these events may be postponed or canceled to curb the further spread of COVID-19. Make sure you practice social distancing and take preventive measures against COVID-19 when joining these events!

 

“Another Original Artwork” Exhibition~Mitsuo Higashiura, Asuka Sachiko, Nanaeko Sasaya, Yoko Tadatsu~

In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the “Original Artwork (Dash) Project,” a new “Original Artwork (Dash)” exhibition will be held to look back on the characteristics, significance, and activities of the “Original Artwork (Dash).”

“Kuroshitsuji” 15th Anniversary Comic Fair 2 Edition

During the period, you will receive a bookmark with a famous scene from the manga for every purchase of one target product.

A display contest with the themes “Character Popularity Vote” and “Quote and Scene Vote” will be held at each store.
The “characters” and “quotes and scenes” that were voted by everyone will be the bonus designs for the fourth edition.

“Boku no Hero Academia” Exhibition DRAWING SMASH Tokyo

The first original drawing exhibition for the popular manga and anime “Boku no Hero Academia” has been decided! In the exhibition, along with the manuscripts by Kohei Horikoshi-sensei, a three-dimensional exhibition and a video exhibition where guests can deeply enjoy the world of “HeroAca.” Additionally, BONES, the studio in charge of the anime for “HeroAca” will exhibit original drawings and storyboards of the fifth season of the TV anime series and the third movie. Original goods will also be available for purchase.

Hino Matsuri 25th Debut Anniversary Exhibition Original Drawing Exhibition POP-UP SHOP

A pop-up shop of Matsuri Hino-sensei’s 25th Debut Anniversary Exhibition will be held. Original goods and prints featuring her works, from her early work “Captive Hearts” to the “Vampire Knight Memories” that’s currently being serialized.
Along with the comics and related books, new goods will also be available.

2.5 Million Ribonkko Special Exhibition in Kagoshima

A special exhibition for Ribon will be held in Kagoshima. The exhibition will be focusing on serialized works in 1994. 11 artists will have their works displayed in the exhibition.

“Yakusoku no Neverland” Special Exhibition Nagoya

Popular manga, anime, and now live-action movie “Yakusoku no Neverland” will have a special exhibition to commemorate the completion of the four-year serialization.

Rurouni Kenshin 25th Anniversary Exhibition Kyoto

The exhibition for the 25th Anniversary of Rurouni Kenshin will be held in Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art. An unprecedented scale of original and colored manuscripts depicting Kenshin and other fascinating characters will be on display.

Ai Morinaga Retrospective Exhibition

A retrospective exhibition will be held to look back on her footsteps in memory of Ai Morinaga-sensei, who passed away in August 2019.

The exhibition will feature her debut work “11-nenme no Megami,” and her representative works “Yamada Tarou Monogatari,” “Boku to Kanojo no ×××” with commentary by Shoujo Manga Researcher Toshiyasu Hidaka-san.

There will also be a virtual version of the exhibition.

Ai Morinaga Memorial (Retrospective) Exhibition

The Ai Morinaga memorial (Retrospective) exhibition will be held in her former home and studio. In addition to the exhibition, a screening of the movie “Himitsu no Hanazono” based on the novel “Strawberry-chan no Karei na Seikatsu” will also be held.
