Hello from Manga Planet! We are back with our monthly list of manga-related events that are happening all over Japan in April 2020.

Hajime no Ippo Art Exhibition~Tamashii no Bout~: Feb 22-Apr 12 in Ishinomaki

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Hajime no Ippo, an original artwork exhibition will be held in Ishinomaki. Original goods and prints produced for the event will be sold at the venue.

Original Artwork Exhibition Kosaku Shima~Shiki~ Kenshi Hirofumi Original Picture Donation Commemorative Exhibition: Mar 14-Jun 14 in Kyoto

Kyoto International Manga Museum will be holding “Kosaku Shima~Shiki~ Kenshi Hirokane Original Picture Exhibition.” In the exhibition, along with the work Hirokane-sensei donated, the original copy of the Kosaku Shima series set in Kyoto will be on display.

Original works and color illustrations of Uryuudou Yumebanashi by Hatsu Akiko will be exhibited in Kanazawa Nakamura Memorial Museum.

Jun Mihara Exhibition – Jun Mihara All Color Works-: Mar 20-Apr 7 in Tokyo

To commemorate the publication of the book “Jun Mihara All Color Works” (Hakusensha), an exhibition will be held at Span Art Gallery. Carefully selected colored original manuscripts such as magazine covers, frontispiece, and appendix illustrations, high-quality original drawings, and various works will be on display. “Jun Mihara All Color Works” will also be sold at the venue.

An exhibition in commemoration of Takeshi Obata’s 30th Anniversary will be held in Akita Prefecture. Selected original pictures from over 15,000 archives will be on display.

Hino Matsuri 25th Anniversary Exhibition: Mar 28-Apr 19 in Niigata

In commemoration of Hino Matsuri’s 25th anniversary as mangaka, a special exhibition will be held. Her works from pre-debut until the present, including the masterpiece Vampire Knight will be showcased.

Detective Conan: Original Illustration Special Exhibition: April 1-May 31 in Tottori

Starting April 1, 2020, the Detective Conan: Original Illustation Special Exhibition will be held in Goushou Aoyama Furusato-kan, a manga and anime museum in the hometown of Detective Conan’s author, Gosho Aoyama.

Sho Kitagawa Original Art Exhibition 2020~nostalgia~ April 16-22 in Tokyo

Original drawings and illustrations from past works and artworks created for the exhibition will be showcased in Sho Kitagawa’s second exhibition “nostalgia”.
Original and reproduction drawings and original limited-edition goods will be on sale.

Shuumatsu no Walküre Volume 6 Release Commemoration Fair: Apr 17-27

Animate will be holding a fair to commemorate the release of Shuumatsu no Walküre‘s Volume 6.
For every 2,000 yen worth of purchase of Shuumatsu no Walküre manga and goods, a limited original postcard (7 types) will be randomly given as a present.
In addition, for every 1000 yen purchase at Akihabara Hon-kan, a serial code will be issued to get a copy of Shuumatsu no Walküre signed by Ajichika-sensei, Shinya Uemura-sensei, and Takumi Fukui-sensei.

Application through CLUB Animate is required.

Rurouni Kenshin 25th Anniversary Exhibition: Apr 24-June 7 in Tokyo

An exhibition for the 25th Anniversary of Rurouni Kenshin will be held in Tokyo Dome City Gallery AaMo. The unprecedented scale of original and colored manuscripts depicting Kenshin and other fascinating characters will be on display.

Hirohiko Araki JOJO Exhibition: Ripples of Adventure in Kanazawa: Apr 25-May 23 in Kanazawa

The JOJO Festival which was held at two venues in Tokyo and Osaka and attracted more than 260,000 visitors, has finally landed in Kanazawa.
The history of JOJO will be presented alongside various exhibits and original drawings.

Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari Nodoka Shinomaru Original Artwork Exhibition Apr 25-May 31 in Kagawa

Takamatsushi Ishinominzoku Museum will be holding an exhibition of Nodoka Shinomaru-sensei’s original artworks of “Udon no Kuni no Kin’iro Temari”.
Rare original drawings, rough cover of the comics which were abandoned, and rejected manuscripts of the first episode will be exhibited
A talk show by Nodoka Shinomaru-sensei will be held on May 3, 2020.

“Moyoko Anno Exhibition ANNORMAL” will be held at Setagaya Literary Museum. Over 500 drawings by Moyoko Anno will be featured. Moyoko Anno is known for titles such as Hataraki Man, Sakuran, Happy Mania, and Sugar Sugar Rune.
