What is Kase-san and Morning Glories?
Based on the yuri manga series Kase-san and… written and illustrated by Hiromi Takashima, Kase-san and Morning Glories is an OVA produced by Animation Studio ZEXCS and directed by Takuya Sato that had its theatrical release on June 9, 2018 in theaters across Japan. The OVA tells the love story between Yui Yamada, a shy high schooler who has a sincere appreciation for flowers and enjoys gardening, and Tomoka Kase, the star athlete in their school’s track team. Kyuta Sakai was in charge of character design and key animation. Ayane Sakura played Tomoka Kase, and Minami Takahashi performed Yui Yamada in the OVA.
In 2010, Yuri manga anthology Hirari first published Kase-san and… as a one-shot, and it began serialization in 2011. The series moved to Shinshokan’s web magazine FLASH Wings in 2014. Most recently, Shinshokan’s shōjo manga magazine Wings started serializing Yamada to Kase-san in 2017. Seven Seas Entertainment is currently publishing the series in English and has four volumes available.
